Meet The
N-CHOIR MUSIC Team

Alex Rouault is a bass-baritone and choral conductor and has recently completed his studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. He began his choral journey at the age of eleven with the National Youth Choir, with whom he has since toured internationally and performed at the BBC Proms, and now serves as the Baritone section leader. He is a choral scholar with the Diocese of Manchester and part of the Genesis 16 “26-7 cohort.

As a performer, Alex has sung with some of the UK's most celebrated choral ensembles, including the BBC Singers, the Gesualdo Six, London Voices, Kantos and the Edvard Grieg Vokalensemble. He has performed and recorded with the National Youth Voices at the BBC Proms, Barbican and Southbank Centre, and has performed bass solos in Handel’s Messiah with the Oldham Symphony Orchestra.

Alongside his performing career, Alex is the founder and artistic director of Polaris Chamber Choir, developing imaginative, ambitious choral projects for audiences across the Northwest. He is deeply committed to education and community music-making working as a vocal leader and tutor with ensembles including the Halle Ancoats Community Choir and Sale Youth Choirs and plans to build a portfolio career combining performance, directing and teaching.

Pete Durrant is the accompanist of St George's Singers, N-Choir and works at the Royal Northern College of Music and Junior RNCM as an accompanist.

Peter grew up in London, where he was a chorister at Westminster Abbey. During his time at the Abbey he toured worldwide and sang at many high-profile events, including the funeral of Princess Diana. He studied music at the University of Manchester, before completing a Masters in Piano Performance at the RNCM, studying with Jeremy Young and Colin Stone.

Recently, Pete has played with the BBC Philharmonic and Halle Orchestra, and has worked with Manchester Chamber Choir, Stafford Choral Society, Keele Bach Choir, BBCSO Chorus, Manchester University Chorus, Sheffield Philharmonic Chorus, Sheffield Chorale, Marple Choral Society, the Halle Youth, Training and Children's Choirs.

Pete was also the conductor of Leek Choral Society, for whom he composed his Requiem for in 2018.
